She is life size
60cm x 60cm x 80cm.
The plinth is 60cm x 60cm x 40cm.
Cast into cotswold stone and can be finished in a variety of patinas, including verdigris, faux bronze, black and cotswold. Both weather and frost resistant. I wanted to make an idealised beauty, that you could imagine might just get up and walk away.
Galatea with plinth. I was inspired to make this sculpture after reading the Greek Myth of Galatea and the sculptor Pygmalion. Pygmalion was a famous sculptor who created a most perfect female nude sculpture, he fell in love with her and prayed to aphrodite goddess of love to make her come alive. Aphrodite, secretely viewed the sculpture and realised that he had created a sculpture that looked like herself, and granted his wish. So Galatea came to life and married Pygmalion.
