The Story of My Fair lady by Bernard Shaw was inspired by the Greek Myth of the sculptor Pygmalion. Who made a sculpture so beautiful and realistic that he fell in love with her and gave her the name of Galetea (sleeping love) he prayed to Aphrodite goddess of love to bring her life, which was granted, the sculpture was brought to life and he married her. So Galatea became Mrs Pygmalion. They had a son called Paphos. The idea for this sculpture was to make a beautiful idealised sculpture, that if the gods granted, could be granted life, and may get up and walk away.
She was modelled in clay, and then a mould made and is cast in cotswold stone. She is weather proof made for an english garden.
