Medieval Dolphin water feature. I call him "Godolphin" He is 15" (38cm) across the fins and 34" long (86cm). and about 11" (28cm) high. He weighs about 15kgs.
I was looking through a Sotherby's garden sculpture Auction catalogue from the 80's and came across a small photo of a dolphin that came from an Elizabethan house near Grimsby. You can imagine that the Elizabethan Gentleman described to a local stone craftsmen a dolphin "a bit like a fish but not quite" and had this made. I love the quirky character and details. It has a standard size water pipe in his mouth to fit most pump hoses. Or can be made without a pipe. I can make them in pairs.
He is frost proof and weather proof and the patinas are permanent and colourfast. The colours of the finish may vary between a blue/green verdigris, a mottled green/brown and I can also cast him just in cotswold stone.
